Biography

Rashid Khan was born on July 1, 1968 in Sahaswan, Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a composer, known for My Name Is Khan (2010), Omkara (2006) and Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). He was married to Soma Khan. He died on January 9, 2024 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006.

Was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, in 2022 by the Indian Government in the field of Art.

Was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.

Belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, is the great-grandson of gharana founder Inayat Hussain Khan.

Has a son and two daughters.
