Biography

Allan Massie was born on October 16, 1938 in Singapore, Straits Settlements, British Malaya. He was a writer, known for Omnibus (1967), Librairie Mollat (2009) and Ian Hislop's Olden Days (2014). He was married to Alison Langlands. He died on February 3, 2026 in Selkirk, Scottish Borders, Scotland.

He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2013 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to literature. He is a journalist and author.

Studied at Cambridge's Trinity College before settling in the Scottish Borders, where he lived for more than 40 years.
