Michael Young is an award-winning writer, actor and producer. He is best known as Creator and Writer of "We Three Queens" (OUTtv Originals series) and as Winner of the 6th annual Canadian Short Screenplay Competition (CSSC) for "The Sound of Trees" (Fun Republic Pictures). A graduate of Theatre Acting at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Jazz Voice at York University, Young performed mostly in theatre, as well as film and tv productions, before turning his focus to writing. He has been a Finalist in several screenwriting competitions, including Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition and Creative World Awards. Young holds a Master in Environmental Studies degree and has written stories, essays and articles for various outlets, including Tenderfoot TV’s "Rattled and Shook" podcast, Metroland Media, GUTS Magazine, artseverywhere.ca, UnderCurrents Journal, Demeter Press and A/J Alternatives Journal. He has published two short graphic novels with Oxford University Press. Young has been interviewed on Queerly’s "Stage and Screen" podcast about developing We Three Queens and on the CSSC’s "In Dialogue" series on Medium about his winning script. Young continues to work as a screenwriter, developing original projects and supporting as a writer and collaborator in the writers rooms of other projects.
