Point guard for DKV Joventut (Badalona), which he joined just before his 15th birthday. Projected to be a top-5 pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Member of Spain's 2008 Oylmpic silver medal-winning Men's basketball team.

Taken #5 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA draft, Rubio opted to stay with DKV Joventut.

Traded by DKV Joventut to Regal FC Barcelona after Rubio backed out of the deal DKV struck with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He will have to stay with Regal until the end of the 2010-2011 season.
