Biography

Mario Corrado is a Filmmaker and an experienced 1st Assistant Director for mainstream and independent film projects, TV shows, commercials, and music videos. He is also a Casting Director, specialized in casting native and fluent English-speaking talents within the Italian territory.

Born and raised in Naples, in 2001 Mario moved to Rome to attend Film Director classes at the New University of Cinema and Television in Cinecittà. Upon getting his Diploma, while enduring his early experiences as a newbie in the Film Industry, he enrolled at Roma Tre University, receiving in 2009 a Summa Cum Laude Master's Degree in Historical, Critical and Theoretical Studies on Cinema and Audiovisuals.

Since 2008 he has been working in and off Italy as 1st Assistant Director for a great variety of projects, assisting both experienced and debut directors.

In 2012 Mario was 1st AD to Sergio Martino, one of the most representative directors of the Italian Genre-Film era celebrated by Quentin Tarantino.

In 2017 he was 1st AD to Academy-Award Winner Director Bobby Moresco for his feature film Bent (2018), starring Academy-Award Nominee Andy Garcia, Sofía Vergara, and Karl Urban. Their collaboration continued in 2022 for the Amazon Prime project Lamborghini: The Legend (2022), starring Frank Grillo, Golden Globe Winner Gabriel Byrne, and Academy-Award Winner Mira Sorvino.

In 2020 Mario was 1st AD to Argentinian Director Lucía Puenzo for the segment "Lagonegro" of the movie Tell It Like a Woman (2022), nominated for Best Original Song at the 2023 Academy-Awards and starring Golden Globe Nominee Eva Longoria.

In 2022 production company Fremantle hired Mario as 1st AD for the 4th and final season of HBO's critically acclaimed show My Brilliant Friend (2018) based on the worldwide hit novels by Elena Ferrante.

During his career, Mario shared the set with several other major international film stars, such: as Academy-Award winners Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino, Academy-Award and Golden Globe Nominee Antonio Banderas, Golden Globe Winner Rutger Hauer, Alba Rohrwacher, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, William Baldwin, and also Action Movie celebrities like Kate Beckinsale, Dolph Lundgren and Danny Trejo.

As an author, besides documentary and fiction short films, he edited and co-directed Platges (2010), a full-length documentary film selected at Sitges Medimed Festival (Spain) and Valdarno Cinema Fedic Festival (Italy).

Mario recently directed four fashion films for the luxury brand Bulgari, starring popular Italian actresses Isabella Ferrari, Anna Foglietta and international socialite Sabine Getty.
