Kainaz Motivala is an Indian actress who has worked primarily in Hindi cinema, with additional appearances in Telugu language projects and commercial advertising. She grew up in Mumbai and her mother tongue is Gujarati, reflecting the city's diverse Parsi community. As a teenager, Motivala participated in an exchange program that took her to Germany at age 15, where she lived with a host family for a year and studied the German language. She attended J.B Vachha High School and later graduated with a Bachelor of Mass Media degree from Jai Hind College in Mumbai. Though she received acceptance for a Master in Journalism program in London, she ultimately chose not to pursue it. She received extensive dance training under choreographer Shiamak Davar for six years, a foundation that would later inform her performance work.
Before entering the film industry, Motivala worked as a journalist and part-time model. After graduating from Jai Hind College, she took a position with HAIR Magazine in India.
