Joo Sang-uk was born on July 18, 1978 in Seoul, South Korea. He is an actor, known for Giant (2010), The Thorn Birds (2011) and The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won (2021). He has been married to Cha Ye-ryun since May 25, 2017. They have one child.

He completed his military service at age 30.

He started acting at age 21.

The drama that was the most influential to him was 2010's Giant where he played a bad guy.
