Christiaan Munoz Salas

Christiaan Muñoz Salas is a Primetime Emmy Nominee (2022) cinematographer, wildlife filmmaker and photographer based in Araucania Region in the south of Chile, specialized in long and short fiction films, documentaries, and observation films. He has been involved in natural history filmmaking since his earlier days, following the steps of his father, Christian Muñoz Donoso, who is also a wildlife filmmaker, working closely with him in many productions, leading him to love and learn from nature and its behavior through a camera, which has now become his full-time job for the last thirteen years. As well as storytelling, he also has an extensive knowledge on film equipment and technology, which includes the latest UHD and High Speed cameras, film cameras, motion controlled systems, professional gimbals like the GSS, lighting systems and others. His work has been featured in a variety of films around the globe, which more recently includes BBC's The Americas series (2025), BBC's Mammals (2024) & Netflix's Our Living World (2024). Past works include wildlife series for Chilean national television channel Chilevision's Wild Chile (2018); Animal Planet/Discovery Channel's Wild Expectations (2016) which won the Emerging Talent award at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival 2017; BBC's mini landmark series Patagonia: Earth's Secret Paradise (2015); BBC's Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur (2016) which won the Special Jury Award price at Wildscreen 2016 and BBC's Planet Earth II (2016) which won BAFTA as well as Prime Time Emmy Awards in 2017. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022 for his work Netflix's Our Great National Parks, ep. Chilean Patagonia, narrated by Barack Obama.
