Lester Tenney was born on July 1, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was married to Betty. He died on February 24, 2017 in Carlsbad, California, USA.

A survivor of the Bataan "Death March"--in which Japanese troops killed thousands of US and Filipino POWs taken during the capture of the Philippines in World War II on a long march to a prison camp--he later became a university professor.
