Guy Orlebar is an award-winning British producer/financier based in Asia. He grew up in the English county of Northamptonshire, UK. After studying a four-year undergraduate master's degree in Engineering and Computing Science at Oxford University, Guy moved to Japan to study an MBA there. In 2002, Guy joined American investment bank Lehman Brothers as a trader, first in their Tokyo office, later moving to their office in Hong Kong. Guy has also worked for Nomura and Mizuho Securities on the trading side, and Thomson Reuters in a managerial role.
In Hong Kong Guy attended Dov S-S Simens' Hollywood Film Institute film school, and in 2007 he wrote, produced, directed and edited his movie feature debut "Lost In Love" starring legendary Hollywood action star Gordon Liu ("36 Chambers of Shaolin", "Kill Bill" 1&2) in Gordon's first ever English language role, which won the Gold Kahuna Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival.
Guy has also produced filmmaker Bizhan Tong's 2024 Cantonese remake of Richard Linklater's 2001 movie "Tape", with top Asian talent Adam Pak, Selena Lee and Kenny Kwan re-imagining the characters first played by Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Robert Sean Leonard respectively, and is an uncredited Associate Producer on the Japanese-Indian movie "Shambhala Story" starring Rina Takeda, Morning Tzu-Yi Mo, and the late Shohei Hino.
In 2024 Guy partnered with veteran Hollywood producer/financier Joseph Cohen in a new venture, MediaRealm Advisors Asia, to match investors in Asia and around the world to Hollywood quality movie projects. Guy's current focus includes working with the original IP owners on live-action adaptations of Alan Dean Foster's "Maori" and "Sagramanda", Billy Tucci's "Shi: Way of the Warrior", Jeremy Han's "Tomoe Gozen: Daughter of the Blade", and Patrick J. Jones's "Sentinels: The Rise of the Robots has Begun".
In addition to producing and financing movies, Guy is a licensed asset manager in Hong Kong. His brother Benedict Garrett is a Bollywood actor based in Mumbai.
