  • Gustavo Serrate is a Brasília-based cinematographer, director, and screenwriter, with over ten years of experience spanning auteur cinema, documentary, and institutional production through his own production company. He works as a cinematographer and director on content for brands, embassies, and international organizations, while maintaining a parallel body of auteur work in documentary and fiction.

    As a cinematographer, he won the Best Cinematography award at the Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro twice: in 2017, for "À Margem do Universo" (dir. Tiago Esmeraldo), an award repeated at CINE PE in 2019; and in 2021, for the documentary "Cavalo Marinho," which he also directed. In 2017, he directed, co-wrote, and shot the independent feature "O Céu Perdeu a Cor" ("The Sky Lost Its Color"), co-directed and co-written with Rodrigo Huagha (Rodrigo Luiz Martins).

    He holds a degree in Journalism from IESB (Brasília) and studied Cinema at the Academia Internacional de Cinema (São Paulo).
