- Claimed that he flew then-boss Howard Hughes to the Cottontail Ranch brothel on 29 December 1967. Deiro said that Hughes left while Deiro took a nap. Instead of contacting authorities, Deiro flew back to Las Vegas, convinced he would be fired. Melvin E. Dummar later claimed that he picked up a long-haired unshaven man who told him he was Howard Hughes on the night of 29 December 1967, and drove the man to Las Vegas.
