Keith Fleetwood is a British filmmaker and musician. Born in Bermuda, United Kingdom, he lived in London, but grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He moved to Los Angeles at age of 15, then to a small town outside Detroit.
Keith attended the University of Michigan-Flint as a Biology and Theatre major, and graduated in 1997. He attended film school in Orlando Florida, and graduated from Full Sail University in 2006.
Keith is a cinematographer, editor, scriptwriter, composer, songwriter, and a multi-instrumentalist. He plays guitar (classical, rock and jazz), piano, keyboard, bass, drums, xylophone, mandolin, banjo, saxophone, flute (including recorder flutes) and sings. He has played in numerous bands and orchestras.
Keith worked for PBS as a cameraman on the Michigan program "Passing Through" (WFUM-TV) which interviewed celebrities, including writers and TV stars like Lavar Burton and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. Keith worked on several indie movies and music videos, and worked with a local TV show that interviewed celebrities. He directed interviews with celebrities Flava Flav, T-Pain, and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan.
Keith directed several music videos and short films, including "A Moment To Change", "Alien Suspects" and "Gravel Road". His team entered the 2004 Open Reel 36-hour competition sponsored by Universal Studios with their submission "False Vibrations", and swept each category of the awards with Keith winning Best Original Score, and Best Picture.
Keith worked a season on "Kitchen Nightmares" with chef Gordon Ramsey, and moved back to Michigan at the end of 2007. He continues to play guitar and keyboards with his rock bands, and does music production with his company "Fiction Film & Music", where he has his recording studio. He occasionally does music with live theatrical productions. Keith produced and scored a feature film on suicide, and lead the sound team on a full production Star Wars fan film "The Blood Crystal".
As a biologist in the late 1990s, Keith worked as Project Manager doing Medical Research for bio-medical device development with Denlin Corporation, working in association with Hurley Medical Center and Kettering University. He worked with a mastermind group of physicians, engineers, chemists and physicists, presented the work to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for FDA testing, and met with then Vice President Al Gore who was interested in funding a bio-engineering facility in Flint, MI.
In sports Keith competed in swimming and chess, and in 1977 won the State of Michigan Chess Championship. He played soccer (or Fútbol) in Mexico for Los Jaguares del Atlas, the team for Guadalajara, Jalisco. He turned to tennis at the amateur level and won several minor league tournaments.
Keith has participated in over 60 stage theatrical productions, as director, lighting or sound designer, stage manager, actor and musician. Keith has released 6 CD albums, and designed the cover art for 2 other CDs. He designed the cover art for a published book of poetry, "Secrets To The Fire" for writer Oliver Mann, and supported Oliver Mann's feature film "Such A Crazy Life".
Keith remains a British citizen.
