LaRoyce Hawkins was born and raised in the south Chicago suburb, Harvey, Illinois. He is an actor and creative best known for his longtime role as Officer Kevin Atwater on the NBC hit drama Chicago P.D. He also has a recurring role on the HBO Max comedy series South Side and featured in the BET+ film North of the 10.

Stage: Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, the Crossroads Theatre at the Illinois State University Center for the Performing Arts. Hawkins plays Toledo in the August Wilson play with music. Also in the cast are Rev. David W. Brown, Carthy Dixon, Tony Ruffin, Justin Farley and Elaine Hall as Ma Rainey. Directed by ISU alumni Kathryn Ervin. The show runs until March 3, 2007.
