In April 2016, Yang was invited as a celeb torch-bearer in Athens to start the Olympic flame's journey around the world.

On February 19, 2017, Yang had his wax figure of himself displayed at Madam Tussauds Shanghai. Second wax figure was displayed at Madame Tussauds Beijing on July 19, 2017.

In January 2016, Yang became the first artist to be featured on the China Post postage stamp.

On February 1, 2016, Yang joined the "9 + 1" fundraiser through weibo; the event was created by China Internet Development Foundation that launched a call for each person to donate ¥ 100, to benefit 9 people from a poor family.

Forbes China listed Yang Yang under their "30 Under 30" Asia 2017 list which consisted 30 influential people under 30 years old who have had a substantial effect in their fields.
