Biography

Cay Izumi is a Japanese-born dancer, choreographer, and art director working across interdisciplinary, physical, and philosophy-driven performance. She is the founder and director of Tokyo Dolores, established in 2012.

Through Tokyo Dolores, she has planned, directed, choreographed, and performed in over 30 productions across four countries, creating immersive stage works that blend Japanese cultural and philosophical elements with contemporary dance, video, technology, spatial design, and fashion.

Her distinctive performance language brings narrative depth and emotional credibility to movement-based and aerial performances, with a strong focus on concept development, dramaturgical structure, and art direction. She is also active as a collaboration performer and director with Ideal Glass Studio, Beryl Elites, participating in high-concept and interdisciplinary performance projects. In 2025, she relocated her base of activity to New York.

Drawing from Japanese cultural and philosophical influences, she continues to expand her practice internationally through performances and productions in the United States and beyond.
