Biography

Jacob Wolf Lefton is an American-German actor, improviser, writer, and director. Born and raised in Boston, he now lives in Berlin, Germany. He is fluent in English and skilled in German. He is best known for his work playing male and non-binary roles in film.

He wrote and acted in the award winning films Until Death Do Us Part (2020) - Winner of the World Film Competition at Filmapalooza Rotterdam, and Grau (2019) - Best Film, 3rd Place at the 48 Hour Film Project in Berlin.

Most recently, he played a lead role in After the Act, an improvised feature from director Ivan Malekin, filmed in 2023 and now in post production. He had a supporting role in Emily Manthei's Next Time, filmed in 2022 and entering distribution. Additionally, Jacob is active theatrically. He directed and acted in the stage ensemble of Ghost Cement (2023), an experimental improvised play series. He performs long-form improvisation comedy and he launched Tales Held Dear in 2023, an ongoing live-streamed Actual Play series with a cast of improvisers that has been invited to record live at Podfest Berlin and perform on stage in several comedy clubs.

He is a lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy. He would love to work in these genres, as well as anything within magical realism, historical, or folktale narrative. He likes to lean into dramatic work, and offers a strong comedic voice as well. He is interested in projects in the US, UK, and across Europe. He is actively developing the feature film Like Mother, a sci-fi family horror.

In Berlin, Jacob studied intensively at the Michael Chekhov International Academy (2019-21), studied improvisation at the Comedy Cafe Berlin (2022-24), and trained action for cinema at the School for Physical Camera Acting (2022-23). He studied Screen Acting at Boston Casting (2016). He has a BA with a focus in storytelling from Hampshire College (2008), where he studied writing, visual arts, circus and theater arts.
