Shawna Maharaj is a makeup department head and former broadcast journalist whose 20+ year journey through media, television, and film has been rooted in storytelling, connection, and intention. She began her career in Trinidad and Tobago, where her voice first found its place in newsrooms, live broadcasts, national ad campaigns and narration that resonated with diverse audiences.
After moving to the United States, she continued her creative path in film and television production, evolving from coordination roles into makeup department heading. A member of IATSE Local 798, Shawna has led teams on projects for Netflix, Paramount Plus, MTV Entertainment, and Warner Bros. With a portfolio that spans scripted, unscripted, commercial, and corporate productions in North America, South America, and the Caribbean, she brings creative execution, diplomacy, care and leadership to every set.
Today, Shawna is expanding her impact through business coaching and public speaking, helping entrepreneurs and creative professionals clarify their direction, communicate their value, and turn their competencies into income.
