Jitendra Rai(I)

Jitendra Rai is a Mumbai-based writer-director and producer whose filmmaking is rooted in human stories, everyday realities and the humour found in ordinary life. He began his career as an Assistant Director, working with acclaimed filmmakers Vishal Bhardwaj and Amole Gupte. He has written and directed short films including Baitullah, Cup of Tea and Nanhi Neend, which have collectively received over 400 million views worldwide. His films have travelled to international festivals and received awards, including the Premio City of Ispra at Festival Internazionale Del Cinema Povero, Italy, and Best Short Film at Lampa International Film Festival, Russia. As a filmmaker, Jitendra is drawn to extraordinary stories within ordinary lives, keeping his characters grounded in reality and allowing humour, emotion and conflict to emerge naturally. He continues to develop and produce short films under his production banner, Matheno Films, while developing projects as a writer-director-producer.
