Biography

Roney Freitas is a Brazilian filmmaker, screenwriter, and educator holding both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Studies from the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP). He is a partner and managing director at Arte In Vitro Filmes, writes children's programming for TV Cultura, and teaches at the International Academy of Cinema (AIC). His award-winning portfolio includes fiction, documentary, and animation short films, including a Vimeo Staff Pick. Renowned for his collaborative indigenous cinema, Roney co-directed the award-winning documentary "Grin" (2016) with Isael and Sueli Maxakali, honored at the 21st Sesc_Videobrasil, and directed "Mborairapé" (2023) in partnership with Guarani Mbya artists, alongside producing visual arts exhibitions with them.
