Sheng-Hsiung Hsu, known professionally as Edgar Hsu, is a Taiwanese composer, music producer, sound engineer, and pianist. In a career spanning more than two decades, he has written and produced music for over one hundred Taiwanese television series and films.
Hsu has received two Golden Bell Award nominations. At the 48th Golden Bell Awards in 2013, he was nominated in the sound effects category for the television series Flavor of Life. At the 57th Golden Bell Awards in 2022, he was nominated for drama score, a category introduced that year, for The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2.
He began working in recording studios in 2002, initially as an engineer, and in the mid-2000s contributed to several of the idol dramas of that period of Taiwanese television, including Hana Kimi, Romantic Princess, and Hot Shot. His later credits include In Time with You (2011), one of the most awarded series in the history of the Golden Bell Awards; The Making of an Ordinary Woman (2019-2021); and the Netflix original series Shards of Her (2022).
In 2017 he founded Edgar Music Co., Ltd., a Taipei-based company providing scoring, sound design, and mixing for film and television. He continues to perform as a pianist, with appearances at the Taipei Arena and at jazz festivals.
