Delfine Paolini

Biography

Delfine Paolini

Mini bio

  • Delfine Paolini is a Bronx-based writer, director, and fellow whose work explores thanatological themes, embodiment, and Senecan philosophy through intimate studies of moral consequence.

Part of the New York punk scene as a teenager, photographing live shows, Delfine met legendary photographer Mick Rock and gained the opportunity to become his assistant. This experience encouraged her to study visual arts as a means to accompany her writing with imagery.

Her work was discovered and championed by famed William Morris agent (and former Vice President), Johnnie Planco, who represented her for several years before his passing. Planco, who represented such directors as John Cassavetes, Paul Schrader, and Robert Altman, was instrumental in guiding her as a filmmaker, and set her on a path toward becoming a director.

Her debut feature, A Wonderful Way with Dragons, received over 55 international awards, including the Special Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at Wales International Film Festival, and Honorable Mention at Greece International Film Festival.

Through her company LRO Production, Paolini creates emotionally charged films that explore faith, madness, loss, and redemption. She is developing her international feature Reds Hearten, conceived alongside its companion film Near Waking. Together, the two works form an evolving portrait of grief, ethical rupture, and transcendence within the human psyche.
