  • James Stonehouse showed an interest for music at an early age.

    He began playing Trumpet, Guitar and Piano in elementary school. Music was his favorite subject. James composed his first song at just 10 years old and his love for music inspired him to continue writing.

    He fell in love with music for theater and film and become interested in composition and structure of music in the long form as well. At fifteen James began to write his own original songs for Orchestra. His inspiration for music for film came from Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Thomas Pasatieri and Danny Elfman. James also enjoyed the work of Michael Kamen, Thomas Newman and Mark Snow.

    James also began playing piano at local establishments around metro Detroit, sneaking into bars and clubs as young as 16 to perform. At seventeen he was commissioned to score and write a theme song for TV production and James never looked back.

    James attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied Film Scoring and Composition. He also continued his professional carrier writing and arrange for Fool's Gold Music and other independent artists.

    James other muscial influences include; The Beatles, Paul Simon, Andrew Loyd Webber, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Leonard Bernstein, Mahler, Beethoven, Mozart and Debussy

    James has written over one thousand compositions from pop songs, rock songs, inspirational songs, music scores for Public Service Announcements, a theme song for his high school graduating class.

    He also has composed for Televisions shows, commercials, movie trailers, stage shows and musicals, ballets and arranged music for everyone from rappers to country and western bands.

    James has recently completed work writing and performing the scores for several independent films and Documentaries including the 2012 full length documentary "Honor Flight Michigan - The Legacy".

    James continues to write, record and score original music.
