Biography

Barrie Kosky was born on February 18, 1967 in Melbourne, Australia. He is a director, known for Siegfried, The Royal Opera House: Carmen (2018) and Royal Ballet and Opera: Gotterdammerung (2026).

In 2013, he became the artistic director of the Komische Oper in Berlin.

He is the first Jewish director to work at the Bayreuth Festival in its 141-year history.

In 1990, he founded the Gilgul Theater, the first professional Jewish theater company in his native Australia.
