Fabrizio Maltese is an Italian-Luxembourger producer and documentary filmmaker, with a background in award-winning photography. Over the past decade, he has established a distinctive voice in creative documentary, working as a director, cinematographer, and producer on his own films.
Since 2015, he has directed and produced five feature-length documentaries, which premiered at major international, Oscar-qualifying festivals such as Thessaloniki, Morelia, Transilvania, and Tallinn Black Nights. His cinematic work is marked by a strong visual identity and a deep engagement with intimate, author-driven narratives.
Alongside his directing career, Fabrizio has increasingly focused on creative producing. In 2018, he founded the Luxembourg-based production company Joli Rideau Media, which embraces a boutique approach and an affinity for bold, cross-genre storytelling. The company supports both emerging and established filmmakers across creative documentary and select arthouse fiction. Joli Rideau Media is involved in several international co-productions, including Afonso’s Smile by João Pedro Rodrigues, The Moon is a Father of Mine by George Ovashvili, Re-Creation by Jim Sheridan and David Merriman, as well as other upcoming projects.
