Jack Breakfast was born on September 7, 1975 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

[on songwriting] I just like to personalize it a bit. Most of the names aren't people I've actually known. Maybe I like the idea that some girl called Denise could be listening to the album -- this is just very wishful thinking -- and then suddenly her ears perk up when she hears her name, and she becomes giddy. A lot of my songs are about this high school experience that you might see in movies. High school for me was a nightmare. But I have this romantic vision of this ideal place where kids just ride around on bicycles, and they're a gang and they do wacky things together, and it's really sweet and sad.
