Deena Trudy is a filmmaker and multi-hyphenate creative whose work spans writing, directing, producing, and acting in independently produced, collaboratively built film projects.
Born Deena Trudy Goldberg in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, she moved with her family to Palo Alto, California in early childhood and later lived in New Jersey, New York, and Arizona. After her parents’ divorce, she grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she later became involved in the juvenile justice system and spent time in long-term locked juvenile facilities. She was released at age 18 following a court decision not to transfer her to adult prison.
After her release, she earned a degree in Business and initially planned to pursue marketing before transitioning into film and acting. She began working in Arizona’s independent film and commercial scene, taking on roles in film and television productions, including appearances in Lucky You (Warner Bros.), House, CSI, Heroes, The Office, and NCIS.
A turning point in her career came when she co-created, produced, and directed the web series Toke N’ Choke Dispensary, beginning in 2013, establishing her voice as a filmmaker working within independent production structures. She has since continued directing and developing independent film projects with full collaborative crews.
Her work spans filmmaking, production, and performance, with a focus on structured, independently produced storytelling driven through collaborative teams.
