Plinio Profeta is a composer, musician, and music producer for film and television, widely recognized as one of Brazil’s most versatile and innovative creators in the audiovisual industry. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars), the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), and the Latin Recording Academy.
Born in Brazil, Profeta began his international career in Los Angeles in the early 2000s, working as a musician and producer. During this period, he won a Latin Grammy Award for his participation in "Falange Canibal", an album by Lenine. Upon returning to Brazil, he collaborated with influential artists such as Pedro Luís, O Rappa, Lucas Santtana, Xis, Lobão, Sandra de Sá, and Tiê, before transitioning fully into composing for film and television.
Profeta has composed original music for over 80 audiovisual productions, building a reputation for strong narrative sensibility and stylistic range. His work has earned major recognition, including two Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro awards for Best Original Score, for "O Palhaço" (2011) and "O Filme da Minha Vida" (2018), along with several other national accolades. Among his most successful films are "Minha Mãe é Uma Peça" and "Medida Provisória", both widely recognized within Brazilian cinema.
His work has also achieved international visibility. The documentary "Divinas Divas" won the Best Global Film Award at SXSW 2016. In 2023, he composed the score for "Nosso Sonho", the biographical film about Claudinho & Buchecha, which became a major box-office hit in Brazil. In 2024, the series "Betinho: No Fio da Navalha" was selected for the Berlinale Series Market and nominated at the Cannes International Series Festival.
In 2025, Profeta composed the original score for the HBO Max series "Beleza Fatal", which ranked number one in 15 countries, and won the Best Original Score Award at the Rio Film Festival for the documentary "Apolo". His recent and upcoming projects include new feature films, series, and documentaries, continuing his work across cinema, streaming platforms, and international co-productions.
