- Amlan Datta is an independent producer director cinematographer from India. An alumnus of Film & Television Institute of India (FTII, Pune) he has found his production company Animagineer in 1997. He is a 3 times recipient of Indian National Award. His films reflect strong social and political messages through simple human stories. He has constantly strived to explore wide spectrum of cinematic treatment. 'Cockadoodle Do' (premiered in Berlinale) was a 3-minute short musical fiction while 'BOM' (premiered at IDFA) was a 2-hour long documentary without any non-diegetic music. His unique style of visual narrative that projects a distinctive signature, is shaped by his fascination for documentary format and his years of experience. He and his brother Anirban, also a Producer, Director, Writer, together they have produced a number of award winning films. Amlan, always passionate about camera, also collaborates as a freelance cinematographer.
