Mini bio

  • In 2014, filmmaker and life-long cinephile Edwin Samuelson launched Samuelson Studios, a New York City film company specializing in the production of featurettes, audio commentaries, Japanese language projects and bonus content for DVD and Blu-ray releases. He has worked with small indie groups as well as large industry leaders from around the world, including Studio Canal, MGM, Arrow, Shout Factory, Drafthouse Films, Kino Lorber, Signal One Entertainment, Second Sight, and Vinegar Syndrome. He works closely with Japanese labels such as New Line Media, Stringray, and Bandai because of his capability to communicate in their native language and provide video translations of their films. He also helps provide English translations for other languages as well.

Over the years, Edwin Samuelson has had the pleasure of working with myriad actors (Jeff Bridges, Alan Arkin, Elliott Gould, John Leguizamo, Elizabeth Moss, Michael C. Hall), directors (Brian De Palma, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Dick Richards, Jeff Lieberman), writers (Jules Feiffer, Richard Price, William Peter Blatty), and music personalities (Iggy & The Stooges, Dinosaur Jr, Iron & Wine), among many others. He prides himself on creating innovative, professional films that are of the highest quality in the business. His work has been nominated for numerous awards and have received positive critical responses from industry leaders, the press, and the public.

Some of his most notable work appears in The Shout Factory release of Brian De Palma's Phantom of the Paradise, Severin Films' release of Santa Sangre, Kino Lorber's release of The Wanderers, and Arrow Films' releases of John Carpenter's The Thing and David Cronenberg's Videodrome.
