Biography

He won the Nobel Prize for Peace with the Yazidi Nadia Murad on 5 October 2018.

He is a Congolese gynecologist who, with his colleagues, has treated about 30,000 women who suffered rape as a weapon of war. He works under the permanent protection of UN peacekeepers at his hospital in the DRC. The hospital also operates a mobile clinic and a microfinancing program, funded by Unicef and other donors.

This Nobel prize is a recognition of the suffering and the failure to adequately compensate women who are victims of rape and sexual violence in all countries around the world.
