Biography

Jason Mojica

Mini bio

  • Jason Mojica is founder of Xylophone Media. Previously, he was the Executive Producer of VICE Documentary Films, which developed and produced feature docs and unscripted series for 3rd party platforms. Before that, Mojica launched VICE News as its founding Editor-in-Chief and Executive Producer of more than 150 hours of content including the Peabody Award winning The Islamic State, Peabody Award winning and Emmy nominated Last Chance High, the DuPont award winning Selfie Soldiers and critically acclaimed coverage of conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, Venezuela, and Ferguson, Missouri.

Mojica was a contributor to VICE since it first began dabbling in web-based video in 2007, and served as a producer on the company's first foray into television with MTV's The VICE Guide to Everything in 2010. After a stint in London producing for Al Jazeera English on their weekly media review program, The Listening Post, Mojica joined VICE full time in 2011. As a Senior Producer, Mojica was in charge of VICE's brand-building "tentpole documentaries" and spent the majority of his time on the road producing VICE's marquee talent in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Congo, Mexico, Libya, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the Philippines and beyond. In 2013 Mojica became one of the first Americans to meet Kim Jong Un when he led the crew that brought Dennis Rodman and the Harlem Globetrotters to North Korea for the season finale of the first season of VICE's eponymous show on HBO.
