Jim Kaufman is an American born record producer who is also a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, recording artist, mixer, composer of scores for Film and Television, Mastering Engineer, and recording studio owner.

Jim studied music theory in school and started played piano starting at 5. Jim began his professional music career as the guitar player and founding member in the industrial alt metal indie band, Opiate for the Masses. In 2003 he took a job as engineer/studio assistant for Charlie Clouser (Ex-Nine Inch Nails). With Clouser, Jim assisted on Helmet's 2004 Interscope Records release Size Matters. In addition, he assisted Charlie Clouser on scoring the horror film Saw (movie). After working with Clouser, Opiate for the Masses had reconvened in Los Angeles to write and record their full length debut for Warcon/American Voodoo entitled The Spore, which would start Jim's career as a Producer.

In early 2007, Jim composed the score for Josh Eisenstadt's full length horror film Dark Reel, starring Edward Furlong. While scoring Dark Reel, Jim simultaneously produced the debut by singer/songwriting prodigy Samuel Markus and The Only Ones.

Jim decided to create American Voodoo Records, striking a distribution deal with EMI, and meanwhile, moved his recording studio from Laurel Canyon to Phoenix.
