Chris Ghelfi is a filmmaker, actor, dancer and singer, known for Chasing the Win (2016) and Across the Universe (2007). He trained at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, The William Esper Studio, The School of American Ballet, and Steps on Broadway.
As a performer, he was in the original Broadway casts of The Life, The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm, Saturday Night Fever and The Broadway Revival of Fiddler on the Roof with Alfred Molina and Randy Graff. He toured with the original Broadway national touring casts of The Who's Tommy and Saturday Night Fever. He has performed in concert with Dolly Parton at Carnegie Hall, and both Diana Ross and Tony Bennett at Radio City Music Hall. Chris can be heard on the original cast recordings of The Life, Fiddler on the Roof, After All, and the Grammy Award nominated Hair (with Jennifer Hudson, Billy Porter, Lillias White and Gavin Creel).
As a filmmaker, he co-wrote and co-directed the award winning sports documentary, Chasing the Win. He has created many behind the scenes documentary short films for Sony Masterworks, The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, Ghostlight and Sh-k-Boom Records. He has interviewed hundreds of artists over many years including Stephen Sondheim, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ariana Grande, Martin Short, Patti LuPone, jockey Mike Smith, horse trainers Bob Baffert, John Shirreffs and Dr Frank Sheehy.
He is married to the Broadway Company Manager and current Director of Programming at Broadway Sacramento, James Lawson.
