Born in Rio de Janeiro, Marcela Mariz is a writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles. Her artistic journey began in theater, where she first discovered her passion for storytelling. As a teenager, she had her first play professionally produced, launching a playwriting career that would lead to more than twenty commissioned theater works.
After earning her law degree, Marcela moved to New York to continue her training in acting and scene study. She later relocated to California, where her background in theater evolved into a career in filmmaking. Drawing from her experience as both a playwright and performer, her work is rooted in character-driven storytelling and actor-centered direction.
