- Chris Zylka was born on May 9, 1985 in Warren, Ohio, USA. He graduated from Howland High School in 2003. His hobbies have included football, basketball, baseball and golf. He studied Art at The University of Toledo in Ohio for two years, but dropped out and moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting. He is of a Polish, Ukrainian, Slovak, Ruthenian/Rusyn decent.
Zylka is known for his roles as Brigg in the MTV made-for-TV horror films My Super Psycho Sweet 16 (2009) and My Super Psycho Sweet 16: Part 2 (2010), and as Thor in Kaboom (2010), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
Zylka is also known for his roles as Jake Armstrong in the CW series The Secret Circle (2011), Blake in the movie Shark Night (2011), Kyle in Piranha 3DD (2012), Flash Thompson in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Tom Garvey in the HBO series The Leftovers (2014), and Kermit in crime-drama film Dixieland (2015), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

- Chris's father's family, surnamed Settlemire, has been in the United States for many generations, and has German, as well as smaller amounts of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh, ancestry. Chris's maternal grandfather, William Zylka, was the son of immigrants of Polish and Ukrainian descent, Michael Zylka and Anastasia Kozarewski. Chris's maternal grandmother, Patricia Rosko, was born to a family of Slovak and Ruthenian/Rusyn ancestry.
