Biography

José Luiz Datena was born on May 19, 1957 in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. He is an actor, known for Os Inquilinos (2009), Dumpers (2016) and Alphaville 2007 d.C. (2007). He has been married to Matilde Foresto since 1977. They have three children.

Journalist, TV show and radio host, with works with the following networks: Globo, Record and Bandeirantes. In the latter, he was known for giving their nickname "Band", which later became popular.

His two sons Joel and Vicente Datena, also followed in his footsteps and became journalists themselves.

He ran for the mayoral election in São Paulo, running for the PSDB, which marked the first time Datena entered a political campaign after several threats of running for a political position (all abandoned before the beginning). He finished in 5th place, which doesn't qualify in a two-round system. However, Datena managed to create one of the most infamous viral moments during the TV Cultura debate when he hit candidate Pablo Marçal with a chair, after being offended by the latter.
