She was given an opportunity as a child to go to NY. Pete Rozelle, the former NFL Football Commissioner, saw Jean starring in a musical when she was a little kid and invited her to stay with his family and set up meetings for her with Producers all around town. But, Jean hard started training to be a tennis player at the time and suffered a very serious injury that forced her to decline the invitation. Immediately following her recovery, Renee Richards took Jean on as her protege. But, despite being a gifted athlete, Jean wasn't willing to do the work required to fulfill her potential and they eventually parted ways.
Soon after, Jean got her heart broken and she could all of a sudden write music. Opportunities presented themselves for her to sing on a very public level but, Jean resorted to the same self-sabotage. She could not get out of her own way. And, a complicated relationship with her mother didn't help. Her mom enlisted the counsel of an astrologer from the time Jean was very young and Jean's destiny was written...Nothing short of worldwide fame or being elected President of the United States was going to be enough - the stars and the planets said so. This led to a period of rebellion and a significant length of time where Jean had to come to terms with what she wanted her life to amount to. She realized after her mom died unexpectedly that it wasn't fame...it was achievement that was worth pursuing - becoming great and being recognized for it. If that happened to lead to recognition on some level...it was now a very different thing.

- Originally moved to LA to be a recording artist but, refused to sing publicly. However, as a tribute to her Mom who passed unexpectedly in the Summer of 2010, Jean wrote a film where she'd have to sing. That film got it's first "Official Selection" into an Academy Awards qualifying festival in 2011...and then a second in 2012.

- As a writer, I wanted to punch people in the face with this story...I wanted to explore the horror of unrequited love and how certain emotions present more Male vs Female. As a director, I wanted an almost silent film that plays like an opera. To soften the blow of the subject matter, I used elegant and feminine visuals. I lean a little surreal so, I wanted the sum total to fall somewhere between Powell & Pressburger and Parajanov.
