Daughter of Edwin Bird and Nicholas Bird of Calcutta, India and daughter-in-law of Geeta Mehta and Krishen Mehta of New York City.

She graduated from Bhowanipur Education Society College in Calcutta, India.

Bird did her schooling from The Frank Anthony Public School, Calcutta.
