Ed Hinshaw

Longtime Milwaukee broadcast journalist Ed Hinshaw began at KXRA-AM in Alexandria, MN while a high-school freshman. Later he worked at WRC in Washington D.C. KSTP in Minneapolis, the Voice of America in Washington, D.C and finally began a 37-year career at WTMJ in Milwaukee. His numerous honors included the National Broadcast Editorial Association's 1990 National Award for Excellence in Editorials; the Society of Professional Journalists' National Award for Distinguished Service; the Abe Lincoln Merit Award from the Southern Methodist Radio and Television Commission; a Milwaukee Junior Bar Association Award for service to the law by a non-lawyer, several Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and Milwaukee Press Club awards for Best Editorials of the Year, a DuPont-Columbia Special Citation in 1978, and a 1994 Freedom of Information Award from the Milwaukee Chapter of Professional Journalists. In 2010, Ed Hinshaw was chosen as a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle.
