Melanie Gretchen, based in New York, is executive producer, writer, and principal actor of the award-winning short films "Like a PowerPoint," an office romance, and "The Back Garden," a psychological thriller. Originally from the Bay Area, she grew up in the Philippines and Malta, before she received a BA in Journalism and Theatre from the University of Denver.
Since arriving in New York, she has studied with Karen Kohlhaas at The Art and The Audition, with Susan Messing at the Bughouse Theater, and Jennifer Bareilles at The PIT. Recently, she performed with Lincoln Center in the world premiere of "the public domain" and in the horror film "Tinted View." She is a Founding Supporter of the Tennessee Williams Rectory Museum in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where the playwright grew up, and plays softball throughout New York City.
