Jack Piatt is the Founder of Highway West Entertainment. Poetry was the catalyst to Piatt's artistic journey. Living the life of a writer, his adventures led him to Los Angeles where artistic expression was available at every turn. Piatt spent years working about every job on a film set. Ultimately, producing and directing became a mainstay, but writing always the driving muse.
He grew up outside Dayton, Ohio and became a sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division before attending undergraduate and graduate studies at Southern Illinois University for Journalism and Media Management. He spent time as a journalist, photographer and editor before heading to Los Angeles to focus on filmmaking. In addition to his professional endeavors, Piatt has long demonstrated his passion for global issues and social justice, working with Participant Media as a field producer on the Save My Oceans Tour and various other projects and campaigns such as the Palau Project, Imagining Geographies, Meals on Wheels, The Humane Society and Manifest Equality among others. His most recent project is developing music programs for people experiencing homelessness. He is on the advisory board for Songs for Good, as well as on the Board of Directors for Give a Beat. Piatt released his poetry book, "Poems From My Phone" in early 2020 and released his audio book "The Fencepost Knows Too Much" in 2021. His new book "Love & Microwaves" released in 2025. He remains committed to raising awareness for important causes and creating impactful stories that empowers viewers and shifts global consciousness.
