Marissa, nicknamed "Mighty," is a classically-trained actor, a working stuntwoman, and a professional dancer with extensive experience in film, television, and staged-live entertainment. She is known for bringing depth and nuance to complex characters while delivering performances that really pack a punch. Driven by her insatiable curiosity and unwavering belief in the transformative power of storytelling, she has earned a plethora of accolades, including 2 Best Actor awards, a Solo Award, and nominations from the SAG Awards, the Ovation Awards, and the Taurus Awards.
Unable to sit still, she explored multiple avenues of movement from dance, gymnastics, and martial arts to running, jumping, and climbing trees. Marissa has danced nationally and internationally with PCB Ballet and Inland Pacific Ballet, and deepened her martial arts training across disciplines such as karate, capoeira, and Tae Kwon Do. She went on to study at Scripps College, where she graduated with a BA in both Dance and English and the coveted Lucille Morrison Scholarship. After graduation, Marissa performed as a principle dancer across the United States and around the world with companies such as John Pennington and the famed LA Philharmonic, Oni Dance, Rosanna Gamson Worldwide, Company of Strangers, and Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre.
She worked with such artists as Tina Turner, Christina Aguilera, LL Cool J, and prominent brands such as Nike, iPod, and Coke. Moving onto TV and Film, Marissa had worked on such shows as "The Drew Carey Show," "Shake It Up," "911," and "Henry Danger," and films "House Bunny," "Colombiana," "Logan," and "Birds of Prey" to name a few. Through film work Marissa had the pleasure of working with superstar originator of parkour David Belle, delving her into the world of stunts, a world perfect for a woman of her unique skills.
Following her passion for storytelling, Marissa also founded UP Productionz, a production company responsible for creating visually bold, emotionally resonant film and television content. The company's work has been recognized by numerous festivals, bringing home awards such as Best Screenplay, Best Action/Adventure, and more. UP ties all of Marissa's creative instincts together, centering the use of movement through dance, stunts, and physicality while championing inclusive narratives with emphasis on female-led perspectives.
Designated a "creative whirlwind" by The New York Times and identified by The Los Angeles Times as having "all the skill, charm, and appetite for creative adventure," Marissa has definitely made her "Mighty" presence felt in the industry!
