Bladimir Abud is a renowned Dominican filmmaker, academic lecturer, and international speaker. His cinema always tackles sensitive social issues and is characterized by the inclusion of common characters who seek to change the status quo. This has allowed him to engage in a constant exercise of rhizomatic experimentation, which stands in contrast to the imposition of a single model of thought.

His debut film, 'La Lucha De Ana' (2012), was presented at over 50 international film festivals, receiving several accolades, including awards for Best Film and Best Actress at the 2013 Soberano Awards. In 2013, he directed his second film, 'Los Súper' (2013), a comedy with social undertones. In 2016, he premiered 'A Orillas Del Mar' (2016), a social drama filmed with both professional and non-professional actors, garnering multiple nominations at international festivals and receiving awards for Best Film and Best Director at the 2017 Soberano Awards. In 2019, he released 'La Otra Penélope' (2019), a film set in post-war Santo Domingo, based on the eponymous novel by renowned writer Andrés L. Mateo. The film received several accolades at the "Latino and Iberian Film Festival at Yale" and the "Festcinerd" in 2019, where it won awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Lead Actor, and Best Supporting Actor.

As of 2026, he is in the pre-production stage of his next feature film, the science fiction project 'ARJÉ IV: Ser En El Espacio'.

In addition to his cinematic work, Abud actively contributes to the theoretical and academic discourse on film. As an international speaker, he has developed and presented the lecture series "Cartografías Del Desplazamiento: Cine, Memoria Y Dispositivo De Identidad En La Diáspora Dominicana," sharing his research and perspectives on memory and cinema at prominent institutions and international forums.
