- He took his first course in scriptwriting as an elective, while studying music at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.
- Holds a Bachelor of Music from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. He specialized in voice. He holds a TEA lifetime certification as a Texas Music Educator.
- A 2007 graduate of the Film Production Program at Vancouver Film School. He was the only member of his VFS class to have pitched three scripts during three rounds of filmmaking to result in all three projects being selected for production.
