Biography

I was born in Fremont, California in 1975. I lived in Oklahoma as a child and remember going to see Jaws and empire strike back in the theater which started my long journey to find my passion for film making. We moved to Texas when I was junior and one of my favorite things to do as a teenager was to go see a movie on the weekends. I went to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where I majored in Radio/TV/ Film and my passion for storytelling started to develop. I went on and worked for syndicated TV shows, start up media companies and cable networks as an assistant and senior video editors. It was not until 2007 that I got to work my first film, The impostor that my love for film-making was solidified. I was hired as a PA and then continued on as an assistant editor. Since that time i have worked on 7 feature films as D.I.T . Assistant Editor or Film editor as well produced, directed and edited over 15+ short films. I had the privileged of working on great indie films like Bomb City and Carter high. I have also had the honor of editing the following feature films which are on amazon prime/Netflix : Suburbanite, Prepper, Goodnight, Charlene, A man called Jon and most recently Revenge in Kind. I have really focused on the aspect of the post process of film making and i am always learning and growing to become the best editor I can. I love being apart of the film community and Look forward to many more opportunities to edit feature films.

Charles Willis was born in Fremont, California and grew up between Oklahoma and Texas. Early movie going experiences-especially seeing Jaws and The Empire Strikes Back in theaters-sparked a lifelong passion for filmmaking. As a teenager in Texas, weekends often meant trips to the movies, further fueling his interest in storytelling.

He attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where he majored in Radio/TV/Film and began developing his craft as a storyteller. Willis went on to work for syndicated television shows, startup media companies, and cable networks as an assistant and senior video editor.

In 2007, he worked on his first feature film, The Impostor, initially as a production assistant before moving into the role of assistant editor-an experience that solidified his passion for filmmaking. Since then, he has worked on multiple independent feature films as a DIT, assistant editor, and editor, and has produced, directed, and edited more than 15 short films.

His editing credits include the feature films Suburbanite, Prepper, Goodnight, Charlene, A Man Called Jon, and Revenge in Kind, with work available on platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix. Willis continues to focus on the craft of post-production while actively contributing to the independent film community.
