Philip Odegard’s path into technology began well before it was formalized or widely structured. Growing up in Southern California, he spent his early years building and launching high-powered model rockets out of his garage. He designed propulsion systems, tested configurations, and developed homemade telemetry payloads to track flight performance.

Each launch carried real consequences. In rocketry, small errors surface immediately, and that environment shaped his approach early. It instilled a focus on precision, systems thinking, and accountability-lessons learned through direct experience rather than theory. Long before STEM became a defined pathway, he was already applying its principles in practice.

By the early 2000s, that foundation extended into a broader engagement with engineering and technology. He continued building and refining systems, developing a practical perspective grounded in how things actually perform under real conditions.

As he became involved in the startup ecosystem, Odegard worked with early-stage companies in a range of roles, including as a collaborator, advisor, and investor. His focus has remained on technologies in their formative stages, where early decisions tend to have lasting impact.

He later formed the Odegard Group, a private holding company through which he oversees and develops a portfolio of ventures across technology, design, and applied innovation. His work through the group tends to be long-term in nature, with selective involvement in areas where engineering, product, and direction intersect.

His perspective remains rooted in his background as a builder. He evaluates systems at a fundamental level-how they are designed, how they hold up under pressure, and how teams execute over time.

Alongside his work in technology, Odegard has explored design through a studio focused on clean, functional aesthetics influenced by Nordic principles.
