Imhotep Coleman is a creative executive, director, and educator with over 15 years of experience in scripted storytelling, production leadership, and talent development. He is the founder of Urban Scholar Film Academy, an award-winning filmmaking program that builds pipelines for emerging creators while producing culturally relevant, audience-driven content rooted in community.
As a Directors Guild of America member for over a 15 years, Imhotep has led professional sets across film and television, overseeing crews, production logistics, schedules, and creative execution. His hands-on leadership spans development through delivery - balancing creative vision with operational excellence.
Imhotep also serves on the Film Production Faculty at West Los Angeles College and is a 2024 Television Academy Foundation Alex Trebek Legacy Fellow, reflecting his commitment to both industry innovation and mentorship. His work blends creative strategy, audience insight, and talent cultivation - a combination that fuels sustainable content ecosystems.
Alongside his wife, Alexis, he co-founded Urban Scholar Academy, an academic enrichment organization recognized by Super Bowl LVI Legacy, WWE WrestleMania, The Jennifer Hudson Show and the Golden Globe Foundation for its impact and community engagement.
