- Masood Akhtar Saharanpuri (professionally credited as Masood Saharanpuri) is an Indian screenwriter, dialogue writer, playwright, poet, and lyricist whose creative career spans cinema, theatre, and literature. Beginning in the 1980s, he contributed to numerous Hindi film productions as a dialogue writer, associate writer, assistant dialogue writer, and scenario writer.
Throughout his film career, he was associated with several notable productions including Ram Avtar, Ram Lakhan, Sadak Chhap, Laal Pari, Pyar Ke Kaabil, Dushman Devta, Teri Payal Mere Geet, Kali Ganga, Jaaydaad, Taaqatwar, Ladaai, Aag Se Khelenge, Gola Barood, Ustaad, Jeete Hain Shaan Se, Uttar Dakshin, Parivaar, Dadagiri, Dharti Ki Kasam, and Sanam Bewafa. During this period, he worked alongside several respected filmmakers and writers, including noted dialogue writer Anwar Khan.
Among his independent writing credits, Masood Saharanpuri was credited as Dialogue Writer for the stage drama Dhongi Baba (1983) and as Scenario Writer for the feature film Mere Data Garib Nawaz. These works reflect his individual contribution as a writer and storyteller.
Alongside his work in cinema and theatre, Masood Saharanpuri has remained deeply engaged in literary pursuits. His poetry and lyrics focus on humanitarian values, moral character, social harmony, and Khidmat-e-Khalq (service to humanity). He is currently preparing a collection of 100 original poems for publication and is developing several original screenplays centered on compassion, ethical conduct, human relationships, and the betterment of society.
He is the nephew of renowned film writer Omar Khayyam Saharanpuri and continues to pursue meaningful storytelling that combines artistic expression with social purpose.
