Romina Cocca

With a strong cross-cultural presence in international productions, Romina Cocca recently appeared in a supporting role in Netflix’s global number-one hit My Oxford Year (2025) (directed by Iain Morris), portraying the fiercely protective mother of Sofia Carson’s character, grounding the role in her native Argentine heritage. In feature films, she appears in The Penguin Lessons (2024) (directed by Academy Award nominee Peter Cattaneo, starring Steve Coogan), contributing to both the cultural authenticity and the sharp, dry sense of humor of the project. On television, building on her portfolio of Hispanic roles, she is set to appear in the upcoming Season 2 of Sky/Peacock's The Day of the Jackal (starring Eddie Redmayne). Her credits also include guest starring in the BBC series The Split (2018), created by BAFTA winner Abi Morgan, as well as characters such as Paulina in the series Les de l'hoquei (2019) (2019) and Pilar in Selftape (2023). Born in Rosario, Romina trained in New York City at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and HB Studio, as well as the Meisner Program in Barcelona. Alongside her acting career, she works as an acting teacher and coach. In addition to her dramatic work, she is a professional stand-up comedian and trained improviser, with television appearances on 20Vint (2022) (RTVE 2, Spain) and Stand-Up Revolution (2022) (Antena 1, Romania). Romina studied Literature (Letras) at university and has been a passionate reader since adolescence, with a particular love for science fiction, horror, and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Her favorite authors include Claire Keegan, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, and Mariana Enriquez. Beyond her native Argentina, she has lived and worked in New York and Mexico, and operates primarily out of Barcelona, Spain. Holding an Italian (EU) passport, she has full working rights across Europe and maintains active local bases in London, Madrid, New York, Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires, making her a highly versatile "local hire" for global projects.
